Looking for the birth/baptism of Samuel PURDY, son of John PURDY, supposedly born in Magherafelt in about 1824/5. He married Margaret McCann, also born in Ireland, in Preston, Lancs, in May 1857. I have a lot of information from his military service and know quite a bit about his descendents in the UK and USA, but am stuck with getting any further back as I don't have access to Irish records. His pension record shows that he retired to Kilmainham, leaving his family in the north of England.

I have McCanns from Magherafelt also. My ggrandfather James McCann married Catherine Donnelly in Moneymore RC Church, Lissan, District of Desertlin (Moneymore), Union of Magherafelt, Co. Londonderry on 9 June 1867. James was the son of Arthur and Catherine the daughter of Charles. They moved to Cumbria England where my grandfather Patrick Joseph McCann was born. They lived in Barrow-in-Furness. While I don't have a Margaret in my tree, I would be interested in comparing notes. James had a brother named Owen.
