  • Hello Angela,

It seems that your Bradley's are definietly from the Parish of Iskaheen in Co. Donegal.  I looked at the 1901 and 1911 Census for Bridge Street.  I found a death for Sarah, her son William and her brother John.

Bradley:  April 6, 1905 at the residence of his sister 44 Bridge Street, Derry.  John Bradley.  His remains will be removed for interment in Drung burying ground on Sunday 9th inst.  The funeral leaving his late residence at half past nine o'clock.  American papers please copy.

Faulkner: October 31, 1906 at her residence 44 Bridge Street, Derry.  Sarah, wife of the late George Faulkner.  Funeral will leave her late residence for interment in Drung burying ground today, Friday 2nd November at half past nine o'clock. American papers please copy.

Faulkner:  June 1913 at the Western Hospital, Glasgow.  William, second son of the late George and Sarah Faulkner.  His remains will be removed from his sister's residence 34 Bridge Street, Derry for interment in Drung burying ground today, Friday 27th inst at half past nine o'clock.  American papers please copy.

The paper may have made an error with the house number!

Drung graveyard is in the Parish of Iskaheen.

If I find any more information, will let you know.

  • Hi Irish eyes

THANK YOU!! This is alot of information. The address seems to change between 43 & 44 on everydocument that I have found. Sarah had a daughter Honorah married to Francis Dwyer living in America I think that may be why it was being copied to the Amercan papers.

  • Hello Angela,

You are very welcome, only glad to help.

Do you have the marriage certificate for George and Sarah Faulkner?  It would give Sarah's fathers name and what part of Iskaheen Parish, Upper Moville they lived in.  It would narrow down your search.

Do you know what a Boatman done? Sarah's father was William a Labourer.

  • Hello Angela,

That would be St. Columba's Church (aka Long Tower) were they were married.

It's a long shot .... George could have worked at Derry's Quay on boats, the likes of loading or unloading.

I checked this website http://www.irishgraveyards.ie  In the graveyard search, key in Drung,  There are Bradley's and Faulkners buried there.  Unfortunately, only the headstones are recorded but there are plenty that have no markers.  It gives you an idea where Sarah and the Bradley family ancestors are buried.

Will take note of William Bradley and let you know if I come across any information.

  • Thanks again Irish Eyes.

According to Proni George died in Liverpool. His burial took place at The Catholic Church of St Mary, Highfield Street. His burial certificate says he died in the hospital. I checked the location of St Mary's and it's next to the docks. I dont know where he was born.
