I am working on a family that came to Quebec around 1829 this marriage certificate fits but I am trying to connect the dots. I'm wondering were there any births for a Cornelius Kelly in 1803 in Templemore and where would I look next. I'm attaching a document that i got from the archives.

  • Long Tower was established as a church in 1783 but there are no baptism or marriage records prior to 1823. You can read a little of the history on this link:

Long Tower was the only RC church in Derry at that time. If Cornelius was baptised in 1803, then it appears that no records have survived. You may find it difficult to get any further than this. (1800 is often regarded as barrier which it is hard to get past with Irish research).

  • Well at least your honest. I am so glad that maybe my search has to stop here. It's been almost twenty five i have been working on this research. I finally had a break with this marriage certificate. Yet I really can't link this to canada, except that there happens to be a Robert woods and Catherine woods that also made it to Quebec and same area. I appreciate all the hard work people put into these boards and really want to thank you so much.
