Lifford RC parish is the only Donegal parish which has reocrds for the late 1700s. All other Donegal parishes don't start until the mid-19th century. Here is the register http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0352  which has baptisms from 1773 to 1795. Unfortunately, when I searched Roots Ireland for the baptismal records for Charles and Catherine, I got no record which would indicate they were not from the Lifford area. I would search the records on the register but they are in Latin. The record will show baptism followed by the first name of the child and then the parents names and the sponsors names. If you need help let me know.

McFaddens are generally from northwest Donegal.

I did look at the 1857 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Clonleigh parish and there was only one McFadden: Elizabeth in Cloghfin townland. http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/donegal/clonleigh.htm

As an aside, my Brennan and O'Donnell relations come from Clonleigh parish.

Thank you for your reply . looking like Charles 1880 had a brother Thomas 1775 marr to Isabella Campbell . but will have to keep on trying . thank you again for your time regards William .

My dad's name was Charles mcfadden (14/11/1927) I wonder if there any connection. His mother was called Mary, I am not sure which parish he was from originally though I am searching for info on my dad's family too.
