Our ancestry search has brought us back many generations of the McGeoghagan/Doherty families in the Isle of Doagh area. We've Been able to go back five generation to this point to brothers James (a priest) and Patrick McGeoghagan. Patrick married a woman with the last name Grant, we believe. They had four children, Patrick, James, William and Rose. Patrick, my great grandfather, married Annie Doherty and bore my grandmother Margaret, along with her brothers and sisters Theresa, Anne, Kathleen, James, John, Helen, Richard and Mary here in the USA we believe.
We are looking for any information we can on our families history, as well as any living relatives so we may communicate/introduce ourselves to them. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
PS. We recently visited the area and found what we believe to be the ancestral home (at Maghernaul). We went and met the owners of the Doagh Famine Village who said that relatives are still living in the area.

Brian:
You did not indicate how far back James and Patrick were born. Possibly church records do not exist.
Magheranaul townland is in Clonmany civil parish. Baptismal records start in 1852 (see 3rd link)

Here are two Facebook pages. The first is for Clonmany genealogy and the second page is for those with ancestors from the Inishowen Peninsula who have tested their DNA and have uploaded their DNA results to Gedmatch.
