You did not mention religious denomination but I will presume Church of Ireland. The records for Convoy Church of Ireland parish prior to 1871 were destroyed in the Public Records Office fire in Dublin in 1922. So there would be no church records available for John and Sarah and children.
You may want to consider DNA testing to identify other matches on this line.

Tradition was to marry in the bride’s church. Catherine Crawford married in Convoy Presbyterian. Their baptism records start in 1822. Have you checked them for other children? Sadly the marriage records don’t start till 1846 so if that’s where John & Sarah married, no record apparently exists.
There’s a copy of the baptism records in PRONI in Belfast.
A William Crawford was a witness to the 1850 marriage so presumably he's a relation in some way. Catherine's brother perhaps?

DonegalGenealogy site has the Crawford surname in the Convoy area though do not see the names listed as directly linked to Aughagault. Sections below, link to Presbyterian baptisms and a church membership list from 1822:

Hi all
thanks for your responses,
would the Presbyterian church in Convoy hold any records??? I have tried emailing the church, several time, as I’m in Australia, but have never got a response.
yes Elwyn, my guess is William is her brother. Another son Mathew b 1/08/1840 Aughagault and died in Massachusetts in 1911. He travelled with Catherine and John to Connecticut
many thanks

Ann,
Convoy Presbyterian church has baptism records from 1822 onwards and marriages from 1846. They likely hold the originals but there is a copy of both in PRONI (the public record office) in Belfast. If you are unable to go yourself, you could employ a researcher. Researchers in the PRONI area: http://sgni.net
I am sorry the church has not replied but some receive rather more genealogical enquiries than they can cope with. Some reply promptly, some reply after a long wait and some don’t reply at all.
