I am looking for information about the parents of my g-g-grandparents, Neil and Mary Doherty McLaughlin. They lived in Dunree and were m. in 1858. Neil had been m. before to a Magy Doherty (a relation of Mary??) and had two children John and Patrick. In the 1856 Griffith's Valuation, the head of household was Catherine McLaughlin of the "George" McLaughlins. This is my family. Catherine was probably the mother of Neil.
Please let me know any further information about this family. They lived a short distance from Ft. Dunree. Thank you

To clarify, Neil and wife Magy Doherty m. 1855 and had sons and sons John c.1856 and Patrick b.1858.
Neil and wife Mary Doherty m. 1859 had children Michael b.1860, Hugh c.1862, Roger b.1864, Catherine b.1866, Daniel b.1871, and Rose b.1874. All of these children immigrated to America except Daniel who stayed in Dunree to care for their aging parents.

My GGrandfather was Patrick Doherty born 1847, on one of the documents I have it states his address as "near Buncrana" his Father was Owen Doherty Mothers name uknown - I wonder if your Mary Doherty is related, Patrick married Ellen McGrellis in 1872, they both emigrated to Australia in 1872. I have not been able to prove any relatives at this stage,
