Hi,
I'm trying to find any information relating to my 3 x G Grandparents John Kearns or Cairns and his wife Rosana Shiels or Shields. Their son James Cairns married at the age of 25 in Scotland in 1855 and his marriage certificate records his birthplace as Drumhome Parish, Donegal.
I have found documented details of 4 children born to John and Rosana in the Scottish records from 1855 onwards. James was born about 1830, John about 1836, my GG Grandfather Patrick about 1839 and Sarah about 1846. The documents state that the children were all born in Ireland.
Any information relating to this family would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I presume your ancestors were Roman Catholic. Unfortunatley, the RC parish records for Drumhome start in 1866. (Almost all RC parish records start around 1850 or later). I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and there were no Kearns/Cairns baptismal records with father John in the Drumhome area.
I also did not find a John Carirns/Kearns in the Griffiths Valuation of 1857 for Drumhome parish Co. Donegal.
You may want to add Your great-great grandfather Patrick to our XO Chronicles site https://irelandxo.com/ireland-xo/history-and-genealogy/ancestor-database

Thanks for your reply Roger. The family were Roman Catholic and I did have a look at the Drumhome Parish records but noticed they only start around 1866. Thanks for looking anyway. I'll just keep hoping that something turns up in the future.
Best wishes,
