I would love to find the families of these two women that married Creighton men in my family tree. Catherine Dundas of Whealtly, INishmacsaint, Fermanagh born abt 1769 and married David Creighton about 1799 she died 1859 in Templecarn, Fermanagh, Ireland. Jane Dundas of Whealtly also married David Creighton (David and Catherine's son) born about 16 Mar 1818 . Jane died in Ontario , Canada 1904. I would really love to know who her parents were and her siblings. Anything might help . Donna Marie creighton_murphy@msn.com

Hi Donna Marie,
Thank you for your message.
I cannot find a Whealty in Inishmacsaint, however there is a Wheathill Glebe townland..could this be where you are referring to?
Your best bet to find information on these two women is probably in church records, although given Catherine?s early birth and marriage dates it may be difficult as it can be hard to come by records prior to 1800.
Most Catholic records are held locally so you may need to write to the local parish priest for possible assistance. One website that you may find useful is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. It also shows you where copies of the records are available.Inishmacsaint civil parish actually falls into a few different Catholic parishes:
Most surviving Church of Ireland records are still held by the local clergy, although some are in the National Archives of Ireland and others are in the Representative Church Body Library in Dublin. Here are their websites: http://www.nationalarchives.ie/ and http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42
Lists of these surviving registers can also be found at the National Library of Ireland.
If you can find Catherine and and Jane?s birth records it will give you parents names, they will also list sponsors who are usually other members of the family. Also, sometimes Catholic marriage records list the couple?s fathers? names.
It may also be an idea to contact the Irish World Heritage Centre to see if they can assist, however a fee may apply. Here is their email: info@irish-world.com
I hope some of this is helpful. Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.
Kind regards,
