Working with a YDNA cousin match to my father on the following:
James Knox b. 1597 went to Raphoe around 1617 to be a soldier for his great aunt and uncle Lord and Lady Cunnyngham.
His children appear to be
a. James Knox b. 1620 Raphoe m. Mary _____
b. Patrick Knox b. 1621
c. Thomas Knox b. 1623
d. George Knox b. 1625
e. Andrew Knox b. 1626
f. Katherine Knox m. J Young who may have been overseer of Lord and Lady C's property
Our interest at the moment lies with a. James Knox 1620 b. Raphoe
Our theory (which we could use better substantiation of) is that James Knox b. 1620 had a son William Knox b. 1660.
William (b. 1660) had three or four sons. We think they are:
a. John Knox b. 1685 who went to America, perhaps around 1740 to PA and then to Rowan Co. NC m. Jean Gracie of perhaps Coleraine. This line is fairly well documented from here.
b. Robert Knox b. 1718 who went to America perhaps around 1740. Settled in North Salem, Westchester County, NY. This line is well documented from here.
c. James Knox b. 1720 stayed in Ireland. This line is pretty well documented from here.
We want to confirm the three sons of William (b. 1660) are John, Robert, and James and find out if there was another, not yet known to us, who stayed in Ireland as well. YDNA is suggesting that there was but we are having trouble finding him and naming him.
We welcome an information or suggestions on where to look next.
Thanks in advance.
