In 1819 my 3rd great grandfather Solomon Campbell was listed as a farmer from the parish of Ray, this information was found in a publication from the Glasgow University where his son William John was matriculating. Solomon's wife was Martha and I believe her maiden name may have been Rentoul. This is only a guess based on the fact that two grandsons had been given the name Rentoul as a third name.
I have found other references to Solomon Campbell in the Raphoe Parish through the late 1700’s but so far cannot connect anything conclusively to my family.
I would be thrilled if anyone could help in any way.
