Hello, I would appreciate help in finding the family of James Brady, born 1823, Pettigo. James married, about 1854, in New York, USA. He died 16 March 1893 in Peosta, Dubuque County, Iowa, USA. I need to find this family to see if my ancestor, Ann Brady, born 1825/27 is James sister. This might reveal the parents of both.  I am just starting with Irish records. Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

Unfortunately, the records for Carn RC parish start in 1836 for marriages and 1851 for baptisms which would be too late for your interests. Here is the parish register link http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0290    If they were not RC, let me know.

Have you considered autosomal DNA testing?

  • Roger,

I am pretty sure that they are both RC. Please see the FAG records. For at least 20 years they lived within 6 miles of each other. Ann lived in Elwood, Iowa and James Brady farmed, just north, in Jackson County. I will have to try newspapers.com.

Ann Brady Smith is buried at Saint Columbkille Cemetery , Bliedorn, Clinton County, Iowa, USA. Find A Grave Memorial# 13411987

James Brady, her possible brother, is buried at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery, Dubuque County, Iowa, Find A Grave Memorial# 65265839

I will look into autosomal DNA.   Thank you very much for your help.
