Researching Boyle family reportedly from "Newtown" Donegal. Patrick Boyle and Anne Sharpe emigrated 1850-1852. They had four children in Ireland: John b.1841, Patrick b 1844, James b1847-8 and Timothy b 1848. Some of the children emigrated in later years. Biography of Patrick (son) indicated he arrived in the USA in 1855, John in 1858. Ann Sharpe has a sister Sarah who also married a Boyle. Their destination was Hazleton, Pa. The above mentioned biography indicated that Patrick had a farm that was in the family for a long time and he sold it shortly before emigrating. The information on the family in the USA has been sourced yet the biography of Patrick F Boyle remains, in part, hearsay.

Thank you.

I couldn't find Sarah or other siblings.

No luck with Patrick I'm afraid! You might try findmypastireland which requires credit but has 3342 Patrick Boyles born in Donegal. http://www.findmypast.ie/
In a few months the Nat Library of Ireland will make RC records freely accessible so if Boyles were RC...

The Tithe Applotments (free at http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/) have 297 Boyles in Templecrone 1820's & 30's but no mention of Newtown. Similarly Griffiths Valuationhas (free) 388 in Templecrone in 1857 http://www.askaboutireland.ie/

  • Col,

I have to apologize to you as I have  made an error re:the above request. Patrick Boyle (b. 1809 +/-) was married to Ellen Carney (b. 1813+/-) They emigrated 1850-1852. Sarah Carney Boyle and Ellen Carney are sisters. Their mother was Ann Sharp(e) and father James Carney. It is also spelled Kearney in several sources.

Patrick and Ellen Boyle had 4 children in Ireland. John (1841), Patrick (1844), James (1847+/-) and Timothy (1848).

Thank you and once again, sorry for the error.

    Kathy
