Please can anyone point me to any literature about Clough Village (Loughinisland Parish), preferably online.
My 2xgr grandfather William CARLISLE lived there from 1853 -1874. He was a Grocer/ Postmaster/ Inn Keeper.
I would like to learn more about where he lived. Directories? Photos? Histories?

PRONI has an album of old photographs D4614/11/1/1. It belonged to the Belfast Naturalists Club. On page 19 there are photos of a trip to Loughinisland in 1923. They are not on-line.
There’s a detailed description of the parish of Loughinisland in the 1830s in the Ordnance Survey memoirs (vol 17). There’s a copy on the shelves of PRONi or it can be purchased from the Ulster Historical Foundation for £7.50 plus postage.

Downpatrick Library has a local studies section which contains a lot of local information.
None of the above resources is on-line though. Personal visit required to view them.
A couple of more modern photos of Loughinisland’s old churches here:

There are unlikely to be any street directories for a rural area like Clough. Plus street names were not in use in rural areas in Ireland then. Your village or townland alone was normally sufficient to identify you. Population of Clough in the 2001 census was 225 people.
