Hello! I am so excited to find this site. I've been searching for 5 years for connections to where in Ireland my ancestors are from :) ***I would love to find if there are more family member of Patrick Rooney Sr. and Catherine McKeating that we have not found!  Are the descendants still in Ireland, or left to the US later, or emigrated elsewhere! ***

I found PATRICK ROONEY baptized 18 Nov 1798 per Ulster Historical Society document. Parish:  Saul and Ballee, LeCale. Township / Street: Slievegran.  God parents: Bernard Doran, Rose Connor. Denomination: Roman Catholic.

Father JOHN RONEY.

Mother ROSE DORAN. both from Townland Mountain Quarter m. 1792

Marriage to CATHERINE McKEATING 6 Feb 1826. Also Saul / Ballee Parish. Her baptism records 5 May 1800 show Godparents: William Hill, Catherine Macken. Denomination: Roman Catholic. Parish: Saul and Ballee, LeCale. Townland / street: Slieveboyan.

Father: THOMAS McKEATING or MCKEATTIAN

Mother: CATHERINE HYNES both from Slieveboyan m.1789

I am confident of Patrick Rooney's name and wife Catherine. I found McKeating name listed on one of their daughters marriage certificate (attached).  From the Rooney Commemorative Bio (attached), the family left Ireland about 1847, but have not found the ship documents. They stayed in New Bedford MA for about a year, moved to Wisconsin, staying in Milwaukee, WI about 10 years, then settled in Kewaunee, WI. There are several newspaper articles, census records that help confirm this information. Children born in Ireland and came to the US with parents include:

JOHN ROONEY 1832-1860

THOMAS ROONEY 1833-1871

ANN ROONEY 1835-1884

PATRICK J. ROONEY 1839-1892 = My 3rd great grandfather

CATHERINE ROONEY 1840-1916

ROSE ANN ROONEY 1844-1922

ELIZABETH ALICE ROONEY 1845-1857 (some mention of being born on the ship over to America)

?MARGARET ROONEY 1856- (unsure if she is related)

I have also included information "tib bits" (attached) that another family member had collected over the years that may be helpful.

I'm a little concerned that I may be off track with Patrick and Catherine - Is there a reason they marry "later" than most couples of the times at 28 and 26 years of times and did not have children until 6 years later? I'm hoping this doesn't cause my "research" to be off track.

Thanks for all your help!! Sincerely, Jean Bouche, Green Bay, Wisconsin Ancestry tree "Bouche family tree" public
