Hi I'm trying to trace relatives of my grandmother. Her parents were John ward and kathleen Carroll, rose cottages skerries, they married in January 1918 in st Patrick's skerries but John died in February 1919.  Their daughter was called catherine(mary) ward and I'm assuming born 1918/19.

Grateful for any information at all.

    Hi Polly,

Apologies for the delay in getting back.  I've had a look to see what I can find on the family members that you mention above.

I've found a link about Rose Cottage from the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage:
    http://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=FI&r...

I've looked for the marriage record of John Ward and Kathleen Carroll.  I think that you need to order this from the GRO (research copy only for EUR4) and see what extra information is on it.
The details for them are Marriage of Kathleen Carroll & John Ward, 1919 Balrothery, Jan-Mar Vol 2 Page 361.  I found the details on familysearch.org:
    Kathleen Carroll - https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FYF4-3MQ
    John Ward - https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FYF7-4PX

Without further information I wasn't very successful in finding out much more.

Since he married in 1918, he was probably 21 or older, therefore born before 1897
I can?t find any births registered for a John Ward in Balrothery around that time.  It could be that he was both in hospital - most likely in Dublin North, or that he was born in his maternal grandmothers house.

Census - John Ward in Skerries
There is only one potential entry.  Aged 12 in 1911, living with his grandfather.  This would make him 19 or 20 at marriage
Grandfather, Peter Lynch was living in Balbriggan St, Holmpatrick, Dublin in 1901.
There?s no obvious hits for Kathleen Carroll.

Nothing extra so far in FindMyPast.ie/Ancestry.com/rootsIreland.ie
