I'm looking for information on the Collins family. My 4 x great grandfather Peter Collins was baptised at St Pauls ,Annan Quay, Dublin in 1789. His father, also Peter was baptised in Blanchardstown, presumably somwtime in the 1760s. Unfortunately I only have a first name for his mother - Anne

Blanchardstown Catholic Parish records go back further than most, average for rural RC parishes is 1830, with the NLI historic films for the parish covering baptisms from 1774, and marriages from 1775. So not quite early enough for anything for your Peter snr.
There are transcripts of some slightly records for the parish starting in 1771 on Roots-Ireland (pay-website).

Many thanks Shane. It was actually Roots-Ireland where I garnered most of the information I already have. Considering that most records in Ireland have been lost for one reason or another ,I'm probably chasing a lost cause. Thanks again

In the case of early Catholic parishes it's more usually the case that they were not keeping written records rather than any records being lost, mainly due to the effects of the penal laws. It took a while after these laws eased before parish structures etc were established and registers were properly kept.

Hello,
I would like to contact Mary Neff as I am looking for my ancestor, Peter Collins, as well. He was my 3 x great-grandfather. He married here in Prince Edward Island, Canada, in 1833, and died in 1846 or 1847. He was Roman Catholic and apparently educated, as he had a refined signature. Mary, if you see this, please respond. I don't know how to contact you or where you are. Thank you.
