Hi there,I have been tracing my Mam's side of the family who came from Tolka Cottages/Botanic Road area. I realise this is Drumcondra but I found many of their details in the Church of the Visitation, Fairview records as Drumcondra was in the Fairview parish from the 1870s. AFAIK it was part of Clontarf Parish before that. Can anyone clarify this for me please.
I am looking for my Great Grandfather, Michael Evans, Tolka Cottages, Drumcondra. I found his marriage cert from 1902 in the Church of the Visitation, Fairview. Their records have been checked back to 1879 and their is no trace of his baptism. I think he may have been born just before. His father's name is James. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi janglo
The simple answer is to say that the parish boundaries changed a number of times, as areas became bigger and more populated. You could contact a genealogist I know, Joan Sharkey, and ask her about tracing your great-grandfather's birth. She's at joan.sharkey@gmail.com, tell her I gave her your name.
Hope that helps.
