I was hoping you could answer some questions or point me in the right directions.
I found your website and wondered if your genealogical society would be a good place to look for my ancestors? I am coming from the USA next week and wondered if there would be someone there to help me in my research?
I have an ancestor name Roger Murray born in Booterstown, Dublin, Ireland, 1812. He was from the Church of Ireland, but married a RC, Esther Brennan in Dublin, by a German Luthern priest named Shultz in 1834. They had their first daughter in 1836, and had her baptized at Donnybrook parish Church of Ireland. Soon after they came to Canada, to a a place settled by the Peter Robinson grant in Otonabee, Petersborough.
Roger’s sister was supposed to have married a man with the last name Cuff. It is possible that her name is Jane, but not sure yet. I also have a hunch he has a brother named Michael and possibly James. SO not a lot to go on with Roger. I have a lot of information on his grant in Canada, his children and his will and death record. But I still don’t have any parents and nothing for sure on siblings.
As fas as Esther goes she was born in Dublin, Dublin in 1816. It is said that her mother, with last name Howard, ran off with a RC dance master Brennan. They had 4 children including Esther, Eliza, Michael, and John. Eliza married a British Officer and their ship was lost at sea on the way to India. Michael and John both came to Ontario. I have found quite a few connections with Brennan’s being in the hotel business, in Canada and the USA. Possibly that was something from before Canada? I have searched newspapers to find any Dance master during that time, and have come up empty. I don’t have first name for Esther’s parents. I have been on Ancestry, Roots Ireland, irish ancestors.ie, Irish Genealogy, find my past, familysearch,my heritage, and had a DNA test.
Through my father’s DNA, which is that line, we have found strong connections to Dublin, Cork, Kerry.
Do you have anyone that know’s a lot about the Peter Robinson Grant?
I know that was about 12 years before Roger came. But to get to the place that Roger went to, a genealogical expert from Ontario said, that Roger had to have know someone there already. Or possibly went with people in his community that he knew.
There was only one Murray that came with the initial grant name Thomas Murray from Tipperary. He was RC. Roger lived fairly close to him when he came.
I am also trying to get a feel to what Booterstown was like in the early 1800’s. Roger was a farmer in Ontario, and I believe he was possibly a tenant farmer in Booterstown, or at least his father? Does that sound like a good idea? Do you have anyone there that in an expert on that area of Booterstown, and Donnybrook that would be able to help me? We are planning on staying in Booterstown. We will be in the are Feb. 19-22.

Many thanks for your query to the Ireland Reaching Out message board and welcome.
As you are coming very shortly, I have asked several Dublin city volunteers to reply as to their availability.
If you are planning on researching while you are in Dublin, I would recommend that you attend the RCB Library in Churchtown. The website is here and you might email them beforehand with what information you have. This will give them a chance to have material ready for you (if they do have material).
