Yes you may certainly want to determine what records still exist for the church of interest you mention, and or determine what RC churches were in Rathmines at the time . And those records may exist in various forms held by different careholders today. Then you will want to look at the original record by digital or from the caretaker, for both Thomas and other relatives.

Other records for your people from such eras were created and maintained by other administrative divisions. You may wish to seek relevant holdings for other aspects of your research. Particularly since you also know a location where they lived.
