i AM SERCHING FOR THOMAS AND JANE HALPIN, THEY ARRIVED IN AUSTRALIA IN APPROX 1838 WITH AT LEAST ONE DAUGHTER, ELIZABETH JANE HALPIN THEN AGE 12 YEARS.ELIZABETH ARRIVED "FREE" HOWEVER I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIND THE SHIP THEY ARRIVED IN.ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THIS FAMILY WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED, REGARDS, MAREE BAKER

Hello Maree,
I would suggest that you look at www.rootsireland.ie and www.irishgenealogy.ie to see if you can find any baptismal or marriage records. Civil registration only began in Ireland in 1864, so if you find anything it will probably be in church records.
Do you know if they were farmers? or rented land? If so you could go to www.askaboutireland.ie and search the Griffith Valuation.
When searching only put small bits of informtion into search engines and gradually add a wifes name or date. This casts the net wide and you can then gradually refine the search.
I'm wondering from where you got your information? Any idea how accurate it is?
