My great grandparents lived in Dublin. Bridget Hughes and Richard Lutterell. They lived in Dublin when they were married, lived in Durham, England for a time and then returned to Dublin. I posted other messages about this family but would like to post another specific message here. While searching for information on the family, I learned that there was a Johanna Lutterell born 24 November 1899. She was baptized at St Andrews RC church. I did not know of this person before this time. I cannot find a death record. Her father died shortly after this, January 1901 in Dublin. Bridget, the mother, left for USA in 1901 after placing three of her children in a Dundalk orphanage. Someone has changed "Johanna" to "Joan" on the record. This makes me wonder if she survived and was perhaps adopted by another. Could anyone assist me with this. Thank you.

That would have been John Joseph Lutterell. Luttrell seems to have variations, depending on the record. He was born on Nove 5th, 1887. I am not sure why some of the birth records spell the first names of my ggrandparents as Ricardo (Richard is the true name) and Brigettae (as some do). Really interesting! The name that I am interested in is from St Andrew's Church registry. It states that Johanna Lutterell was born in 1899. Then on the record inventory, someone changed the name from Johanna (as reflected in the original record) to Joan. This is a child that we knew nothing about. She was born a few month before her father Richard died, her mother left the county not long after (for USA) after leaving her other children in Dundalk. Thank you for your help and for the listing of another address 50 Aungier St. Richard lived at 21 Aungier when they couple were married.

Catholic registers often record christian names in Latin , hence the use of Ricardo and Brigettae in baptisms and marriage records
