HI,
I'm trying to get in touch with the author of a board posted in 2014 (found here https://irelandxo.com/ireland/dublin/message-board/quinn-family-dublin) regarding a John Quinn who was transported to Tasmania in 1850. He was convicted of larceny in 1848, spent some time prior to his transportation in Spike Island prison. If anyone at IrelandXO can help direct me to the author of this original post I would be most grateful.

Jim:
The original thread as you know dates back ten years. You posted a comment earlier this month on the thread. A notification should have been sent to David McBain at that time. However, if David changed his email address in the last ten years then the notification would not work.
The other person on the thread, Clare Doyle, was our genealogy support lead at that time. However, Clare is no longer actively involved with IRO.

I located two small additional details to add to your clues - the Dublin city location mentioned in that letter is more than likely Rainsford Street, which is in St. Catherine's civil parish, it runs parallel to, and to the south of James' Street in Dublin's south city and part of what's known as 'The Liberties'. The street is named after an alderman & sheriff for the city in the late 1600s.
An head of household report for Dublin City based on the now lost 1851 census, shows a 'Rich' Quinn on Rainsford Street - unfortunately no street number or other details are included. Much of the street is shown as Tenements in city directories of the time including no. 7, so shared households, no names are included in the directory listings for this type of housing.

Thanks for the replies.
Roger, I did manage to track down Clare Doyle to see if she had any memory of the conversation. Unfortunately, she wasn't able to help. I've also tried to track down David McBain, but with no success, hence my new thread here to see if it would reignite his interest.
Shane, I did manage to track down the 'Rich' Quinn, having also worked out that the street name was likely to be Rainsford. I do now know (with a reasonable degree of certainty) that Richard Quinn's other son was James. This gives me a little more information, and possible a new lead to go on.
Again, thanks everyone for your time in replying.
