Greetings:

Looking for where my gggrandfather would have lived and married.  His name is TYRRELL, Peter born around 1830, possibly in Dublin.  He married a woman whose name I believe was GRAHAM, Margaret.  They had several children, Peter, George, John born in the early 1850s.  The story is that Margaret died possibly in childbirth.   Peter took the children, moved to Yorkshire, England, remarried and had several more children.  I have the marriage record for this 2nd marriage in England and the names of the children from the 2nd marriage.

Peter Tyrrell worked on either building ships or making the sails for ships.  I'm not certain, but he had some involvement with ships.

One of his sons from his first marriage, John Tyrrell, born about 1852 in Dublin is my maternal ggrandfather.

Many of the family members came to America in the late 1880s and settled in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, US.

I have no information on what Parish they may have lived in so I'm just starting here.  Any information or leads will be appreciated.

  • Hi Eileen,

There is a John Tyrrell baptism Dublin 1852, parents Peter Tyrrell and Margaret Shortall.

There was a Tyrrell family in Arklow, Co. Wicklow, they were famous boatbuilders.
