Hello, I'm trying to find further information about the business run by John Joseph CANNON from 1832-1856 at 11 Leinster st, Dublin (rented). It was advertised as being called 'East India House' (NLI advert). In city directories John CANNON is listed as a tea, wine and spirit merchant and previously as a grocer of Leeson st (1820). (I also have the sale notices in the newspapers, following his death.)
I'd like to know whether there was an official connection with the East India Company? and more of the context of the business. Did he have a warehouse near the docks, for example?
I would really appreciate being pointed in the next direction to fill out my research. I'm not in Ireland, so online sources please. Many thanks. CCannon
