Help please. My g g g grandfather FARRELL MALONE and his wife Susan nee PHILLIPS, lived at 5 Poole St Dublin tll their deaths in 1862 and1860 respectively. Farrell was 65, Susan abt 59.
I know Farrell was a WEAVER by trade. A Joseph MALONE was living next door with his family and sometimes also at 5 Poole St. Joseph, born about 1785 was a SILK WEAVER as were a long line of his descendants.
Myself as a descendant of Farrell Malone, and descendants of Joseph Malone,
- are seeking the very probable connection of FARRELL and JOSEPH.
- I would also like to know if my FARRELL was indeed a SILK WEAVER, as was JOSEPH MALONE.
My Farrell had 2 sons John and James born in the 1820s and 1830s. 2 of Farrell's daughters married a THOMAS STOKES and a BERNARD GAFFENY. Both these families appear to hang around for a while in Dublin. Gaffeny family in 6 Watling St and the STOKES stayed on in POOLE St for a while.
I would love to know what happened also to John and James MALONE and their families
Thanks

Jacquie:
www.irishgenealogy.ie has Dublin city church records. I did a quick look and saw the baptismal records for all four children of Farrell and Susan. Also, saw the marriage record for Bernard Kavanagh ( not Gaffney) and Anne in 1857. All records in St. Catherine's parish.
There are also Dublin city directories online. Here is an 1850 directory. I did not see Farrell or Joseph listed but maybe they are on another directory.

Hi Roger,
thanks for looking up resources for me.
I did not know about the city directory and yes it looks to be a different part of Dublin. I am not sure but is St Catherines parish in Dublin sth or lower part of the city. The link you gave me looks like it is a part of the main city with the listed occupations and businesses.
I do have all the baptisms you mentioned plus 2 extra on that site as the surname was listed as a variant lke MULLONE etc.
and I do have the Kavanagh connection and know where that leads. I have connected with a descendant of the Kavanaghs who are now in Liverpool area England.
I appreciate your assistance and anything else you can find.
Thanks Jacquie

REPOST with some corrected changes:
Help please. My g g g grandfather FARRELL MALONE and his wife Susan nee PHILLIPS, lived at 5 Poole St Dublin tll their deaths in 1862 and1860 respectively. Farrell was 65, Susan abt 59.
I know Farrell was a WEAVER by trade, which was stated on Susan MALONE'S marriage to Edward Dicker in 1857. Susan is my g g grandmother.
A Joseph MALONE was living next door with his family and sometimes also at 5 Poole St. Joseph, born about 1785 was a SILK WEAVER as were a long line of his descendants.
Myself as a descendant of Farrell Malone, and also the descendants of Joseph Malone,
- are seeking the very probable connection of FARRELL and JOSEPH.
- I would also like to know if my FARRELL was indeed a SILK WEAVER, as was JOSEPH MALONE.
My Farrell had 2 sons:
- John MALONE born 1832 Dublin
- James MALONE born 1836 Dublin.
2 of Farrell MALONE's daughters married:.
Eliza (Elizabeth) MALONE married Thomas STOKES 1844 St Catherrines
Mary Ann MALONE married James GAFFENY 1852 St Catherines
Both these families appear to hang around for a while in Dublin.
Gaffeny family in 6 Watling St and the STOKES family stayed on in POOLE St for a while.
Ann MALONE married Bernard KAVANAGH 1857 St Catherines and by 1861 they were in Kent England with Bernard's army unit.
SO I am searching the link between FARRELL MALONE and his neighbour JOSEPH MALONE.
AND I am seeking the descendants of
- Eliza STOKES nee MALONE
- Mary Ann GAFFENY nee MALONE
- John MALONE
- James MALONE
Thanks
