Be interested in hearing from other Brady's in the St Michans parish or Dublin.

They came out to NZ in 1876 Granddad was just an infant so quite a journey by sailing ship for one so young.

  • Hi Nick,  I dont have any details of Bradys for you although I am a Brady, I saw this query some long time ago and checked it out and found your records as you said they were and wondered had someone carried the records with them or were you just good at checking it out for yourself.  I have checked out some of my wifes Tancred family that went to NZ and Australia to find that they were doing the same, when I saw it again I wondered had someone gone to the trouble of keeping the records on their journey,?  I dont think you will have much luck  in your quest ,if you do,. let me know and I will buy you a lottery ticket. Sorry , that sounds smart and Im not trying to be.  Best of luck

  • Hi Nick:

Please consider creating an Ancestor profile for any of the family members that you have mentioned in your earlier post.

Very often, there are other members who are researching the same families who will be alerted to your post (or Ancestor profile) and they will reply.  The link to create a post is here:  https://irelandxo.com/ireland-xo/history-and-genealogy

Regardless of what searcher said, I think that your information is excellent and you should be able to find out more, but you will probably have to do more research.  The Ancestor profile would alert others in the St Michan's parish area as well as anyone with the Brady surname.

The best of luck and please let us know if we can assist you further.

    All the best,

    Jane

  • I grew up knowing a family named Brady who lived on Parnell St, Dublin. We would visit them a lot they were known as Vera and Maura Brady who now reside at 60 Annale Dr, Marino, Dublin D09.V8YO Ireland. Sadly Maura Brady passed unforntunately I do not have a date for this. They had a brother named Tommy Brady who lived on Capel St or Jervis St Dublin 7. I hope this bit of info helps I will be in Ireland in January for a long time and am willing to look them up so I can see if they are still around. My mom's name was Agnes Walsh (Gunning) maiden name is the one in brackets. Hope this helps you

  •   Hi Nick, just passing and saw that there wasnt much movement on your query.  Im the Brady that answered in 2020, I cant tell you anything about descendents of yor family in Ireland, but looked at yours a little deeper. Your William and Mary J  were married on the 6-5-1870 in a Registry office in north Dublin, his father was thomas as you said, her father was Matthew Holmes. the witnesses were Thomas Brady and Maa Gregory.  I assumed that Thomas was a brother of William, but didnt find much on him so far. went looking for Williams birth. Luckily Thomas is sort of unusual in the Bradys, but eventually found a Thomas who had a Thomas and a William, in St Pauls Arran Quay. The Thomas and William Baptism dates were March 1836 and 15-DEC-1837, Thomas being the older. Thomas's sponsors were Charles Reillyand Eliz. Smith and Williams was  Bridget Reilly.    You didnt give Williams age at death or death so im not sure if these are the correct people , Their Mothers name was given as Eliz. Farrell.  Went looking for Thomas's Marriage (Father) and found it also in St Pauls.  February 1834 , witnesses were James Reilly and Rose Smith,  Reilly's look like a relative. useless to look further if thes are not the right people.   Noticed as I went into you query this time, that it mentions Thomas and Eliz Farrell  . Dont know where that came from as its not mentioned on yours.  Best Myles.                                            ps, St Pauls church is no longer there. Records copies still available.

  • Hi Nick,        had a look at NZ records while waiting and found a William Brady born 1837 died in 1931 aged 94 living it seems 40 years longer than his wife Mary Anne in 1890, it seems it runs in the family as Thomas the father lived to 86 here.

    Best for now Myles
