I'm researching my G.G.Grandfather Patrick O'Dell whose army records shows he died by drowning apparently off the coast of Limerick in December 1865. He was born in Ireland, year unknown, but enlisted in Belfast 1840 in 57th Regiment of Foot. He married 1842 to Sarah White in India.
I am unable to find records of his death in Ireland or confirmation of year of birth though thought to be around 1820's. I would be grateful for any leads, newspaper reports or suggestions how to proceed further investigating his death by drowning. Many thanks - Val Knight, Kent, England

Many thanks - I'll check it out but finding it difficult to confirm age or place of birth as his army records were not kept due to his drowning whilst returning from leave back to barracks in Ireland. Also his name appears to be quite common in Ireland but thanks once again - Val Knight
