Charles was born in Staffordshire and joined the Army. He was discharged from Kilmainham in 1811. He married Mary (marriage not found) and several children were baptised at St Pauls (John 1815, William 1817, James 1821, Joshua 1822) but my 3xgg'father Thomas 1819 is not on the records. They emigrated before Anne was born back in STS in 1825. Any further info on Mary would be welcome.

  • The children were baptised in the Church of Ireland parish of St. Pauls, there's also a Catholic St. Paul's parish. Unfortunatly Church of Ireland baptisms did not usually include mother's maiden surname. There's no sign that I can see of a likely marriage for Charles & Mary in the online church records for Dublin city on the IrishGenealogy website, St. Paul's CofI marriages are included back to the late 1600s, although there could be gaps, missing or faded pages etc.

Marriages generally took place in the bride's current parish, so it's possible they married somewhere outside the city, which could make it difficult to locate (not many of the Church of Ireland parish records outside the city are available online).

  • Thanks Shanew. It's also possible that they didn't actually marry! Thanks for looking.
