Hello! Trying to find out about the Wall family, which appear to have a connection to this parish.

Christopher Edward Wall, born approx 1765 (location uncertain) lived in this area from at the very least the 1830's. He was a doctor and he died on the 12/12/1865. He is buried in Glasnevin. I first found out about him via a death notice in the Bendigo Advertiser (Bendigo, Victoria, Australia), and have since also uncovered a death notice in the Cork Examiner, published on the 14/12/1865. I believe there is an obituary which was published in the Kilkenny Journal, and Leinster Commercial and Literary Advertiser, page 3 on the 16/12/1865, but I have yet to get to see the entire thing. Christopher's eldest son, born approximately 1820, had the memorable name of Martin Napoleon Wall.

I am specifically trying to find out further information about Christopher's brother and his family. The brother's name is James Wall, his wife is Eliza nee Eagan. They lived in Loughrea, Galway for some time (probably married there, and at least one child born there: James Eagan Wall) before moving to Dublin where at least one other child was born. The child born in Dublin is John Hamill Wall, who died in Bendigo on the 13th of May, 1875, aged 54 (according to his brother, who I hope would be a good informant!), which would indicate a birth in approximately 1821. I am uncertain of his religion. There may have been another brother, or a cousin, by the name of Edward Wall (I got this name from the fragment of the obituary I have been able to see so far).

It's probably a long shot, but I am hoping that the brothers were within the same parish when both lived in Dublin.

If anyone has any information, or tips on where I should look next, I'd very much appreciate it.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

There is a Christopher Wall baptism (the only one) on irishgenealogy.ie (a free website for Dublin records) that lists a baptism year of 1761 to parents James Wall and Margaret (last name not recorded). Sponsors are listed as Luke Wall and Brigit Fitzsimons. Christopher was baptised in St. Michael and John's Parish, Dublin. There is not way of knowing if this is the correct Wall ancestor though. There doesn't seem to be any other children baptised of these particular parents so I have no way of knowing for sure if the above is correct. In the same way, the other James Wall baptisms listed there may also be relevant:

You may have to undergo an information gathering exercise as you did with Christopher to see if you can find out more about James through newspapers etc. If one brother was a doctor we could assume that the other also did well and and so there may be additional information available.

    Best wishes
