I am searching for the ancestors of Phillip Balfry of Dunvullen, Co. Limerick born 1738 died 1835. He is possibly the son of George Balfry whose gravestone is in  St John's Cememetry, Knockainey but I have no documentary evidence of this. Can anyone throw any light on this old established Caherconlish family?

  • Hi,

I have just found this site and your question. I have extensive records of over 90 Balfrys from the Limerick area going back to a George b. 1715, d 1787 in Knockainy.

My ancestors stem from your Philip and I have a full tree covering his family and most of their descendants spread across the world. I am interested to know how you found that Philip was from Dunvullen, our family knowledge holds that he was from Chaerconlish. But then they are not far apart.

Cant go into all details here, you can contact me at jaybeedee@gmail.com.

    Good hunting
