Visiting April 8-18.  Looking for info on our great grandfather Richard Commons/Commins/Cummins who emigrated to Boston and Iowa in 1849 from Ardmayle area. His father was John. Contact ASAP before we leave U.S. April 8.

  • Kathleen:

The Catholic parish for Ardmayle is Boherlahan and Dualla.

Records for that parish ( and all parishes in the Archdiocese of Cashel and Emly) are not online.

Later this summer the National Library of Ireland plans to place all RC catholic parishes online for free searching. I would checck Boherlahan/Dualla at that time.

Enjoy your visit to Ireland. I will let our parish liaison for Boherlahan know about your posting and trip.

  • Roger do you mean that some records for  Cashel and Emly are not on line?  I am able to bring up baptismal records on line for the RC Parish  of Newport in the parish of Cashel and Emly on Irelandroots.ie.

  • Joe:

For the most part there are not online although I have found records in the Limerick side of Roots for parishes that border Tipperary and Limerick. See the note below on the North Tipperary Roots page of availability of records. When you look at South Tipperary there are fewer parishes available.

The following parishes in Cashel and Emly are not searchable On-line yet:
    Borrisoleigh-Ileigh, Moye-Templetuohy, Thurles
