My family and I are looking for the parents of Christopher Armstrong. This is all we know about him:
Christopher Armstrong was born in Ballanmallar, Fermanaugh County, [Province of Ulster,] Ireland, April 19, 1823. On May 13, 1845, he left Ireland for the new western world, landing in New York City after a long sea voyage of six or more weeks. Mr. Armstrong lived in New York State, near Watertown, in Jefferson County, a little more than a year. He then moved to Canada, locating near Stratford, Perth County, Ontario. On March 1, 1852, he was united in marriage to Miss Jane McClennan, who was also a native of Ireland, and came to Canada in her girlhood days. This union God blessed in the gift of fourteen children, eight girls and six boys. Three daughters, Mary Jane, Sarah, and Ellen, and two sons, David and John, preceded both father and mother to the land of Beulah.
On October 21, 1874, Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong with their family of twelve children left Canada and came to Iowa, locating in Pottawattamie County, [Iowa] first stopping in Avoca. Later, in the same year, they went to their farm, five miles southeast of Hancock.
Christopher died on October 8, 1913 in Hancock, Iowa.
We also believe he had a brother named Thomas.
Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks, from Texas, David
