I am trying to connect William Stutt of Ballagh to my ancestor Elizabeth Stutt who died at Ballagh in 1867 at age of 90 years. I purchased her death record which states informant was son William Stutt.
William Stutt shows up in the 1901 and 1911 census returns for Armagh Manor in Ballagh but his ages reported are not consistent (65 and 85 years...so born between 1836 and 1826). He shows up in the Griffiths Valuation roles too. Best is a head stone for him and his family at Church of Holy Trinity, Parish of Aghalurcher, plot D78. The inscription states that he died 2 April 1917.
How can i learn who is parents are? would there be an obituary or death record which lists his parents? would there be burial records at Holy Trinty? all help welcomed.

Merv,
I?d get one or more of William?s children?s birth certs to confirm their mother?s name. Sarah?s birth appears to have been registered in Lisnaskea in 1874 Vol 8, page 248.
It appears to me that William Stutt probably married Elizabeth Bowes in 1848 (Lisnaskea 1848 Volume 7, page 204). If you get a copy of that marriage certificate it should contain his father?s name. It should also confirm his address as Ballagh. Elizabeth appears to have died in 1895.
The Church of Ireland does keep burial records but they don?t contain the deceased?s parents names.
The ages in the census often varied considerably. People did not celebrate birthdays in the 1800s in Ireland and often had little accurate idea of how old they were. Likewise the age on the death certificate is just the informant?s best guess. (In this case it says he was born in 1841, which is pretty unlikely). And any age on a gravestone (possibly erected some years later) should not be relied on too heavily. Just a guess too in many cases. If William married in 1848, he?d have been around 22 or so. So probably born around 1826, give or take a few years.
You could search the Galloon Church of Ireland baptism records for that period for his baptism, which would give both parents names. You might also find his parents marriage as those parish records start in 1798. I don?t think those records are on-line. However there is a copy in PRONI, Belfast which you could search.
