I am aware my ancestors lived  and worked on the Clonbrock Estate during the 1800's. The house was in Kilglass, Ahascragh. I wonder does a list of the names and addresses of tenants and their families exist so I can determin how many were involved and their relationship to each other. I have found some in the Griffith's Valuations but do not know if they were related or lived at the same address.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

  • Hi Sophia
The Irish Censuses from 1821 are free at this address: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/
1821, 1901 & 1911 are the only onew with Galway however.

    Hi Sam,

I was looking for information on the Nolan families of Kilglass and their association with Clonbrock. We have corresponded on Ancestry recently in relation to Michael Carroll and Mary Cullinane through Marian Lynch.I never did find a list of tenants and their families. I thank you for your reply.

  • Sophia et al, Best I can tell through Ancestry.com and Griffith's my folk were also tenants on Clonbrock up to and perhaps through the Famine. Family name is Clinton and there might be some Fahy, Naughton and Nee in there, too. Wife and I will be in Ahascragh July 2016 for four days to ask around. Any hints from members here will be most welcome. Thanks, Doug Clinton, Pickens, South Carolina, USA, wdclinton@gmail.com
