Hi, if anyone is familiar with Cartron in Southeeast Co. Galway, my ancestor, Martin Creane/Crane came from Cartron in the 1830's to the USA. His father was Stephen Crane. Martin's siblings included Peter, James, Debby (who married John Connors), and Kitty. Stephen died in the 1840's and was a Magistrate. Martin's mother, Catherine died in 1836. The Connors family was still in the area in the 1901 and 1911 census. I have heard from one person in the area and plan to meet her next year. In the meantime, I believe that the parish are in the process of compiling a parish history, it has not been published yet to my knowledge but if I hear anything I will certainly let you know.
