Greetings from New Zealand

After having so much success through this site recently with another branch of my family, I am keen to see if I can follow up my gg grandfather, Patrick (Pat) Crow who was baptized on 6 Mar 1836. His parents were given as Anthy Crow and Nelly Glyn on the baptism record and Anthony Crow & Ellen Glenn on his death certificate. The sponsors at his baptism were Thomas Kevin and Sibina Crow of Ballybane.

Patrick came to New Zealand in 1860 and was a farmer until his early death at age 42. I would love to know where he lived in Galway and if any family remained in the area.

Thanks

Heather Maloney

  • Heather:

    Welcome back!

The entry on the Castlegar parish register shows Ballybane for the Anthony Crow family not the sponsors.

I think Ballybane is Ballybaan in St. Nicholas civil parish which is essentially Galway town. I can't help you with family still in the area.

  • I don't think you need to post in St. Nicholas. All fo the parish postings end up on the main message board.

  • Hi Heather

Have just joined this site. My Crowes are from Ballindooley. There were 2 Crowe families there, and at least one from the 'other' family came to NZ and farmed in Southland. Is there possibly some connection with your Patrick?
