There are a number of interesting events taking place around the area in the coming weeks.
The Clifden Writers Group invite you to celebrate Poetry Day Ireland with Poems and Coffee at the Library. Thursday 26th April at 11am. Bring a poem that surprises, you can read this and share with people there. You can also just relax and listen as you sip your coffee. This is a free event and all are welcome.
The Oughterard Heritage Group will host a presentation by Bill Daly, which will look at Oughterard’s First Settlers. This will be a journey back into the mists of Prehistory. As well as the presentation this ancient way of living will be brought to life with the reconstruction of a Mesolithic house, including tools, weapons and artifacts. This free event takes place on Friday 27th at 8pm in the Oughterard Courthouse.
To Celebrate the 144th birthday of Guglielmo Marconi, which takes place on 25th of April, Connemara National Park, will hold a guided walk at the Marconi Site in Derrigimla. This walk will begin at 11am from the car park at theDerrigimla Car Park. The walk takes place on Monday 30th. Bring rain gear and good walking boots. This is a free event.
The Clifden Arts Society will hold their next concert on Monday 30th April in the Station House Theatre starting at 8pm. This will feature Thibaut Garcia on Guitar and Isang Enders on Cello. Thibaut and Isang, are two of the brightest young stars in the world of classical music. The programme for the concert will feature music by.
Dusan Bogdanovich, Gaspar Cassado, Enrique Granados, Johann Sebastian Bach, Benjamin Dwyer, Heitor Villa-Lobos and Stephen Goss.
