I am looking into my family roots and my family came from Cloonshivna.  My father was John Carr, born in Cloonshivna Galway circa 1915.  The eldest child in the family was his brother Thomas.  There was another brother who emigrated to UK and was my uncle Billy; his name was presumably William.  I know that there were other children who included a sister, Norah, who emigrated to Boston, USA, and I think a brother named James who also emigrated to Boston, USA.  I think there was also a sister whose married name was Kenny.  Does anyone know of this family?  David Carr

I think this is the 1911 census record for your father's family Six children by 1911. Parents were married around 1893. You can check www.familysearch.org for marriage and birth index records and then write to the GRO for copies of the actual records. There are other Carr families in Cloonshivna in 1911.

  • Hi-

My family is also a Carr family from Cloonshivna, Galway.  If you're still out there responding to this email, let me know.  However, there are more than one Carr families from Galway and "John Carr" sounds like it's the other family.  They tend to use the same names over and over again :)  I'm on Ancestry.com also.
