ILLUSTRATED TALK: The 1918 Conscription Crisis in Co. Galway

In April 1918, as the Great War dragged on, the British Government attempted to impose conscription or military draft in Ireland. The move was strongly opposed by trade unions, the Catholic Church and all nationalist parties.

Dr Conor McNamara was a contributor to the landmark publication Atlas of the Irish Revolution and recently published War & Revolution in the West of Ireland: Galway 1913-1922.
