I am looking for information on my ggrandfather Patrick Hannon and wife Mary Conneely who lived in Tiernee, Gorumna Island, Galway. They emigrated to the US in about 1885 and lived in St. Paul, MN. Baptism records for their son James in 1873 and daughter Mary in 1876 list the parish name as Carraroe (formerly Killeen). Is this the correct current name of the parish?

The Irish is Tir an Fhia literally the land/country of the Deer Leitir M?r (Lettermore) literally the big headland Mor=big. is smaller nd is the Island just before.
Tir an Fhia is near the number 34 on this walk

One tricky element is that Letir Mor AFAIK is in Galway Diocese and when you cross the bridge to Tir an Fhia you are in Tuam Diocese so remember that when you look up parish records. Both in Galway county but Tuam Diocese extends on West and North into Mayo.
It is a fairly wild place look at the photos above after Tir an Fhia church. By the Way the signe Gell sli is give way and "Go Mall" means "slow". they still have the dry stone walls.
