Hello Everyone,

I am currently trying to trace the roots of my 2nd Great Grandfather, John Costelloe, who was born in Co. Galway around 1845 to a Ulic Costello(e) and Winifred Burke.  John came to the US in the late 1860s, married Mary King in Maryland, before moving to Nebraska.  He died in 1930.

John had a brother named Bartholomew (Bartley) Costello who married and Ann Joyce in West Virginia.  He was born around 1842 in Co. Mayo.  Bartley and Ann moved to Ohio, where Bartley was a coal miner for most of his life until he died in 1917.

Per both of their death records, their parents were Ulic Costello and Winifred Burke.  In the 1855 Griffith's Evaluation I found a couple of entries for a Ulick Costello who was listed as a tenant in the following: Barony: Moycullen, Parish: Killannin, Townland: Kilroe, West.  Of course, I don't know for sure if this is the same family, but it appears to be a likely match at this point, especially considering how close to Co. Mayo appears to be to Killroe, West.

Any assistance or suggestions that anyone may have for locating/finding additional information would be greatly appreciated!

All The Best,

Jessica
