~~My daughter and I are visiting Ireland in a few weeks to do some sightseeing and some genealogical research. I was wondering if anyone in your parish would be able to help us with our search for some information.
My great grandmother, Maggie Costello, left Ireland for the United States in the late 1800's. Her sister Nora followed awhile later. They left behind a brother, Martin Costello, and a sister, I believe named Mary, who married a Folan. Their parent's names may have been John and Mary, but I am not completely sure of that. I have been told that my great grandmother used to write to her sister in Ireland at the simple address of Cornarone Middle, Inverin, County Galway, Ireland.
We are very excited to visit Ireland and are wondering if it will be possible to find the location where my ancestors lived and worshipped and were buried. I have searched the 1901 and 1911 census and Griffith's Valuation and have found a few entries that could possibly be the brother and sister left behind. We are also wondering if there may be any living relatives we may be able to find, but we are sensitive to the fact that there may be privacy issues related to this aspect of our search.
We thank you in advance for any assistance you may be able to give us and are looking forward to visiting!
Sincerely,
Linda Doughty

Here's the Folan marriage which perhaps disproves the above!?

Thank you so much for taking the time to help! I think the info on the Folan marriage fits with what I know so far. Is there any way of knowing where they were married or where they lived?
Thank you,
Linda

Linda if you click on find my parish & enter Spiddal it will tell you where to post your enquiry re their address & church.
The Irish Censuses are free online at http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/
If you click on the census year at the top it will give you 1821. Enter surname Costello county Galway & you'll find 9 records. If you click on each it will show you the address and family members.
Galway is not included in another census until 1901 but there are 43 Martin Costellos in Galway including 3 in Coronora (enter Coronora in the Townland box)
Griffiths Valuation 1848-64 free at http://www.askaboutireland.ie/ has 28 Martin Costellos in Galway. I'll leave you to go through them to see if anu are Cornarona
I'll leave you to check Folans
Have a great trip!
