Looking for information on the Ford family of Cahernagarry. Michael, son of Patrick married Catherine Connaughten. Catherine died in 1878. Michael left for the United States some time after that. He sent for their children in 1884. They lived in Philadelphia PA. I am looking for information on who Michael's mother and siblings might have been. I am also looking for the parents of Catherine. I believe her father might have been named John.

Hi,
Thank you for your message.
Have you tried looking at Church records? If you can find Michael's baptismal record both his parents names will be listed. Once you have parent's names you should then be able to look for any other children they may have had.
Most Catholic records are held locally. One website which may help you is the irishtimes. Here, they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. For Kilreekill/Cappataggle follow this link:
For Church of Ireland records check http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42 and http://www.nationalarchives.ie/.
Perhaps you may also be able to find any siblings that remained in Ireland in the 1901 and 1911 census records which you can search here:
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/
Some other websites which may help are:
The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/
The National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx
The National Archives UK ? genealogy search: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/records/looking-for-person/
Family Search: https://familysearch.org/

I hope that this helps. Remember to post as much information as you can with regard to the people you are researching. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you. Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.
Kind regards,
