Patrick Tully and Margaret (Grogan) married c1854 in Ballyhaunis parish.  They had 6 known children (Owen Catherine, Michael, Ellen, and Austin J.)  All left Ireland except Catherine who stayed at the homestead near Tulrahan, Cornacartha, co Mayo, in Ballyhaunis (Annagh RC) parish.  We don't know the names of either Patrick or Margaret's parents.  We've heard that Patrick's father or grandfather came from the Roscommon area, and that Margaret may have come from the Knock area.  Patrick lived c.1834-c1885 and Margaret c 1835 - c1875/80.

It is said that two Tully brothers left Roscommon and came together to Cornacartha, late 1700's to early 1800's probably.  One of these brothers married a Nary /Neary girl who lived in the area.  (There was a town called Ballynary in the area.)

Any help finding these ancestors would be greatly appreciated!!

    Hi,

    Thank you for your message.

This response has already been answered on the Co. Roscommon page. Here is a link to that message thread:

Is there a link between the family you are researching and the Loughrea area?

Remember to post as much information as you can with regard to the people you are researching. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you. Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.

Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.

    Kind regards,
