I'm looking for information about the Raftery family ancestry. My mother Mary was born in 1922 in a place called Lehanagh, and went to school in Castleblakeney. I joined 'Loughrea' then remembered that was where her elder brother Martin spent his later years and may (or may not be) near Lehanagh. My mother had her first job in a place called Ahascragh which I think is a parish? Can someone with knowledge of the local area help? Thank you!

Hello there person looking for your mother named Mary born in 1922 near Lehanagh.
Shirley my wife and myself Larry are planning a vacation to Ireland in early September, 2012 with hopes of finding more about abover referenced Lawrence RAFTERY and his wife Catherine LYONS RAFTERY. He was sometime in 1836 and Catherine in April, 1837. They were both Catholic's. Possibly married in and around Craughwell, Galway County around 1855 to 1862 before coming to USA, but not completely sure. Looking for any places they may have grown up, their siblings, churches, parents name and where they were raised.
Any ideas or suggestion will be very much appreciated.
