Hi John,
Thank you for your message.
Have you tried looking for information in church records?
Most Catholic records are held locally so you may need to write to the local parish priest for possible assistance. One website that you may find useful is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. For Loughrea parish, follow this link:
The East Galway Family History Society have copies of some of these records. Here are their contact details in case you want to call to them during your visit (please note that a fee may be involved)
East Galway Family History Society ,
Woodford Heritage Centre,

Most surviving Church of Ireland records are still held by the local clergy, although some are in the National Archives of Ireland and others are in the Representative Church Body Library in Dublin. Here are their websites: http://www.nationalarchives.ie/ and http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42
Lists of these surviving registers can also be found at the National Library of Ireland.
You could also check for the Roach family in the land records pertaining to Ireland in the 19th century. There are two:
The Tithe Applotment Books (1823-1838) found at http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp
and Griffith?s Valuation (1848-1864) found at http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
Some other websites that may be helpful are:
The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/
The National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx

If you would like to contact us via our info form ( info@irelandxo.com ) with details of your upcoming visit please do so and we will endeavour to find a volunteer who may be able to assist you during your visit.
Also, we have recently added a new link ot the top of our page for anyone visiting in 2013. It takes you to a short survey. We would really appreciate it if you could take a moment to complete it.
Kind regards,

Hi John
Ann Roach is my 3 times great grandmother. She married Henry Wilcock in Liverpool and they had a daughter, Sarah Ann Wilcock ( my 2 x ggm) Sarah married William Pownall Griffiths, born 4th Feb 1852, on 2nd Oct 1871 St John's Church in Liverpool. I will look further into Henry being in the 2nd Lancashire rifles. On Williams and Sarah's marriage certificate Henry's occupation is shown as painter. Do you know who Ann Roach's parent are ?
I hope this helps you
