Bernard Cassidy (my GGG grandfather) and his wife Mary Ann (possibly McMahon) and their four children (Matilda 17, Richard 11, Mary Ann 9 and John 18) emigrated from Roundstone to Sydney on the Lobelia in 1863. I would like more details of their background, if possible. for example: was Bernard born in Roundstone? His wife's name was Mary Ann, but was it McMahon? When was Bernard born? Who are their parents? Oh so many questions. Screen shot attached. Hoping someone may have a trail I can follow, as I'd love to visit soon. Many thanks for any assistance. Regards, Greg Smith, Perth, Australia.

Greg:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
The 1855 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Moyrus civil parish shows a Bernard Cassidy in Derryadd West townland. http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/galway/moyrus.htm I assume this record is for your ancestor.
Unfortunately RC parish records for Roundstone do not begin until 1872 so there are no baptismal or marriage records available for your Cassidys. http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/1080
You may want to consider autosomal DNA testing. Possibly you will match someone with Cassidy connections who has more info on the family.

Many thanks fr your reply, Roger. Could be, as he emigrated to Sydney in 1863.
