My wife's great grandfather was Arthur John Pickford who was born in Ballyduff,Kerry in 1840/41.
He emigrated to the UK in the 1860's and married Mary Barker. They had 11 children.
While carrying out some research on Ballyduff, I discovered that the Museum in Ballyduff was the ancestral home of the silent movie queen - Mary Pickford who was born in Canada. Mary Pickford was her stage name and took the name from her ancestors. Her mother emigrated from Ireland to Canada about the same time as my wife's great grandfather. She is recorded severally as maiden name Pickford, cristened as Elsie Charlotte Printer and also known as Charlotte Hennessy.
As Ballyduff has a comparative small population, we wonder if there is any connection between the two families.
Can anybody shed any light on the enigma.

Hi,
Thank you for your message. I have forwarded it onto one of our volunteers who hopefully may be able to shed some light on this or perhaps know of someone else who can.
All the best,
