Hi,
Thanks for your message.
Have you tried looking through Church records? Most Catholic records are held locally. However, one site which you may find helpful is the irishtimes. Here they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. For Brosna parish, follow this link:
For Church of Ireland records you can check http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42 and also http://www.genealogy.ie
ALso, you could try looking or record of Nicholas in the land records pertaining to Ireland in the 19th century. There are two:
The Tithe Applotment Books, dating from 1823 to 1838, found at http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp
and
Griffith's Valuation, dating from 1848 to 1864, found at http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
Other websites which may help you are:
The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/
The National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx
Family Search: https://familysearch.org/
Rootsweb: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~irlker/
I hope this helps. Remember to post as much information as you can with regard to the people you are researching. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you. Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.
Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.
Kind regards,
Genealogy Support

Hi
I notice that searching for Nicholas Lumbard in Kerry at http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/ brings up two records one showing as a witness at Murphy/ Leane marriage; the other as a sponsor at a Murphy baptism.
You may also find it useful to contact Marg Curtin. She is a Curtin genealogist. Here is a link to her great Brosna website
